Course Components

The course comprises the following components:

1. Primers A and B and Coursebooks 1 to 8

CoursebooksThese coursebooks contain themes that reflect the Core Elements of the National Policy of Education. The books are designed to develop and integrate the four basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking along with the ability to think.

The books provide ample opportunities to the students to use English in real-life situations for performing different language functions.

 

2. Activity Books Primer to 5, workbooks 6 to 8

The activity books and workbooks are integral part of the series and provide useful additional language practice. They dovetail with the coursebooks and aim at helping the learner consolidate the more essential grammatical and lexical items taught at both primary and middle school.

The activity books reflect the changes in the coursebooks and include additional sample oral and written tests, which provide guidelines for testing students in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

3. Literary Readers 3 to 8

The literary readers contain fine specimens of contemporary English. The readers contain stories and plays that depict different facets of life and portray the vast gamut of human emotions.

They inculcate the habit of reading, and love for books in a student. The literary readers aim at rousing a student’s curiosity, kindling his/her imagination and sensitizing a student towards the creative uses of language.

 

4. Teacher’s Books Primer to 8

The teacher's books enable the teacher to plan and use the corresponding books. The books present techniques and strategies for using each component of the programme in a simple, easy-to-follow format.

These act as a reliable and convenient pedagogical aid for the teacher. The books deepen the teacher’s insight into some crucial issues of curriculum transaction. The key to exercises serve the purpose of a ready reckoner.

 

5. Audiotapes

The audio cassettes for classes Primer-5 contain listening material of the finest quality and provide rich learning experience.
